   Detective Sergeant Te'Juan Johnson died from complications after contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during an ongoing global pandemic.

   After becoming infected three weeks earlier, he was hospitalized for more than a week at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville where he passed away.

   Detective Sergeant Johnson was survived by his fiancée, Bobbie Jo Gilbert; children, Katelyn Bowman, Trent and Avery Gilbert, and Jaden Johnson; mother, Carolyn (Dennis) Johnson; father, Rev. Fred (Zelma) Johnson; sisters, Nicole (Riley) Fitzpatrick and Nikolla (Shawn) Dalton; and brothers, David Jones, Rodney (Keisha) Johnson and Jayme (McKenzie) Johnson.

Historical Notes

• Detective Sergeant Johnson is the fifth of five Indiana line of duty deaths in 2020.
• He is the second line of duty death of the Charlestown Police Department.
• His line of duty death is the 10th that has originated from Clark County.
