   Correctional Officer Francine Earls died from complications after contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during an ongoing global pandemic.

   She was hospitalized at a local hospital with symptoms of the disease where she later passed away.

   Correctional Officer Earls, from Indianapolis, was assigned to J-Bracket at the Indiana Women's Prison.

• Correctional Officer Earls is the third known female African-American law enforcement line of duty death in Indiana.
• Correctional Officer Earls is the fourth of four Indiana line of duty deaths in 2020.
