   Correctional Officer Gary Weinke died from complications after contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during an ongoing global pandemic.

   His last day of work was on March 29 and he was hospitalized at Terre Haute Regional Hospital with symptoms of the disease where he later passed away.

   Correctional Officer Weinke, from Linton, was assigned to the Special Confinement Unit of the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility where his wife is also a correctional officer.

   He is survived by his wife, Naomi (née Sturgis); sons, James (Christy) Weinke, Travis (Tonya) Bough and Nathan (April) Bough; daughters, Michelle (Brian) Wilmouth, Amy (Doug) Chisman and Lacey (Tracy Cobb) Bough; 17 grandchildren; one great grandson; brothers, Terry Weinke and Lonny (Terri) Weinke; and sisters, Sandra (Cliff) Rayl and Nita (Brett) Clem.

• Correctional Officer Weinke is the third of four Indiana line of duty deaths in 2020.
• He is the 10th line of duty death of the Indiana Department of Correction.
• His line of duty death is the fourth that has originated from Sullivan County.
