   Trooper Richard Brown was struck and killed by a vehicle at an accident scene on Interstate 74 at the 54-mile marker near Lebanon.

   He was struck head-on by a third vehicle, that was traveling westbound and entered the area, as he investigated a car–truck accident. The collision caused an explosion and fire that resulted in the body of Trooper Brown being burned beyond recognition.

   Two other individuals were killed and a fourth person was critically injured as a result of the second accident.

   Trooper Brown, from Lebanon, was assigned to the Lafayette post. He was survived by his wife, son and three daughters.
