Officer Foster Wildoner died from injuries he suffered five days earlier when he was involved in a single-vehicle accident during a pursuit.

He and his partner were chasing three burglary suspects on Bradford Pike when the suspect vehicle crashed into a guardrail near Interstate 69. The patrol car also crashed into the guardrail, injuring both officers.

Officer Wildoner was transported to Marion General Hospital where he died from his injuries five days later and his partner survived.

All three suspects, who had escaped from the Indiana State Farm in Putnamville during a work detail the day before, were later apprehended.

An 18-year-old and two 20-year-old males had committed several burglaries after their escape. They were charged with burglary and assault with intent to kill.

Officer Wildoner was survived by his wife and parents.
