   Town Marshal Kenneth Hale was killed in a two-vehicle accident while responding to a bank alarm in Pittsboro.

   He was returning from Lebanon when he heard the dispatch and responded. He was killed when a semitrailer entered his travel lane and struck his vehicle head-on.

   Town Marshal Hale was survived by his wife, who was also injured in the accident, three children and parents.

   His father was a former special agent-in-charge of the United States Secret Service field office in Indianapolis.
