   Patrolman Timothy Hecht suffered a fatal heart attack during a training session at the Wheeler High School fieldhouse.

   He and other officers were testing for the agency's new emergency response team and were undergoing a physical fitness test when he collapsed during a mile-long run.

   He was transported to Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso where he never regained consciousness and passed away.

   Patrolman Hecht, from Portage, was survived by his parents, sister and fiancée.
